Inside look of the Easyhotel of London (video)
1 05 2007
“Art Du Service“, a french blog that talks about the service sector in general (with a focus on services in the tourism, telecommunication and banking industry) stayed at the Easyhotel of London and came back with a candid video of the room.
easyHotel brand is part of a larger group known as EasyGroup which also holds easyJet, the famous budget airline mostly known in Europe.
Check below the amateur video of the easyHotel London South Kensington. You will see that the bathroom is as tiny as the toilets of an easyjet aircraft!

For your information, he booked his room online, willing
to pay 10 pounds (about 15€) as advertised. In the end he paid 60 euros, his credit card was instantly charged . His room did not have any window, there was only one towel (an extra towel would cost 1 pound at the reception) and a soap; the room came with a TV but you need to buy a remote control from reception (£5 for 10 channels for 24 hours). There is no bar, no restaurant in the hotel.
easyHotels definitely target people in need of a cheap bed … and only a bed! In this case Bruno paid 60€. It’s quite a low cost budget for a hotel in London but maybe there are hostels (with more services) that could compete with this rate.
I just did a search for a hostel centrally located in London on www.Hostelworld.com; I found a private double bedroom in the Smart Hyde Park View hostel (50 meters from Hyde Park) for about 47 pounds with a lot more services included in the price (internet access, full english breakfast, linens, locker, towels, tea making facility, color TV, luggage storage). Besides this it has a 24hours Lounge Bar.

You are right about the hostel alternative. It’s a good (better?) alternative with more services, and on top of that, you might avoid this horrible orange color everywhere!
Travelodge is also a solution for people traveling with a small budget.

Thanks for quoting Art du service !

Hi Bruno, Nice post.
Nice post. I was stayed in easyHotel and feel I have to reiterate just how tiny the ’small’ rooms are in this hotel…! But having read previous reviews we were well prepared. The only negative thing for us was the complete lack of any storage, except for 3 wall hooks. There was easily space for a drawer under the bed which would have gone a long way to easing the problem. As it was, we had our suitcase and clothes piled up in front of the door, which is definitely a fire hazard!
But with the negatives out of the way, I think this is a great place for a short visit to London. It’s within 5 minutes of Gloucester Rd Tube station and is well served by cafes, restaurants and shops. There’s also a Waitrose and Sainsburys really close by. The room was clean and warm, and the shower always had hot water whenever we used it. Plenty of towels The staff on the 24-hour reception were friendly and helpful. Vending machines for hot and cold drinks and snacks are handy.
Overall, I’d say this hotel is great value for money and in a really great location. I’d recommend this place for a fuss-free, short-stay in London. Personally, I wouldn’t want to stay for longer than a few days as there just wouldn’t be enough room for all my stuff! I also wouldn’t recommend it if you have any walking difficulties, there’s no lift here so if you’re in a small room you’ll be on the third floor, which is a bit of a hike if you’re unfit like me!
